  • Has It Been Two Weeks?

I can't believe that it has been two weeks since I wrote on my blog? What have I been up to? Not much of anything. Enjoying a small break from homework for the online course I am taking, but that must come to an end. My next homework assignment is due Monday, so guess what I will be doing this weekend? I also have to get started on the paper that is due in a month. Anyone want to write a paper?? I am willing to pay. I will be glad to be finished with school. Well, that is about it for now.

  • Moving Back to the States

It has been a week since we found out that we were moving back to the states. I am still getting used to the idea that I will be living in the middle of the United States. I am looking forward to being able to visit friends and family without having to spend several thousands of dollars. Tomorrow is the Navy Ball and I am a little sad because this very well may be the last one I attend, unless there is one at Offutt AFB. The chaplin told me a cute joke about Offutt. Once you go to Offutt you never want to get off it...Get it.. Mike said he heard another version... Once you get to Offutt you never get off it. I think I like the chaplin's version much better. I just hope that I can find work. I enjoy what I do now and would love to continue doing so but working at an Airman and Family Readiness Center in the states is different. In the states there are not limits to how long you can stay at one center where as over here most staff members are limited to a 3 or 5 year tour so someone could get hired on at the states and never leave the postion. At a TDY in the states, someone told me that some director's love to hire people that have worked overseas at centers. I hope that is true.

I also have to think about an internship for next semester. I may do either FEMA course work or if my job is not extended past January then I may do an internship at the education center. I just hope that my school will be flexible.

This picture is from a TDY that I took to Norway in June. I would like to return here someday and climb to the top of Preacher's Rock.

  • Me and Paula at the Kenny Concert and other ramblings

    DSC02843

Here is a picture of me and Paula at the Kenny Concert in July. For those of you that do not know this about me, I am a huge Kenny Chesney fan. Since we moved to England, I have made a pilgrimage every year to see him in concert. Perhaps one plus about moving to Omaha is that I am sure lots of country stars will come to town. Kenny does but it is usually in March, so I will have to wait. I still may try and catch him in Virginia in August.

The reaction from the family to us moving to Omaha has been good. If I am able, I would like to host Thanksgiving our first year, but I am not sure if that will be possible. It all depends on how fast we settle in

We had  a nice weekend. Friday I went to Stoke on Trent with two Girl Scout friends and an advisor from GS headquarters. Saturday Shizuka (our Japanese exchange student) and I attended a Girl Scout sleep over designed for leaders and senior scouts. Sunday was filled with homework for my research class and in general getting ready for the week. and how was your weekend?

  • My First Post

Welcome to my blog. Thanks to Shelli Wilson for introuducing me to this site. This is much better than myspace. The big news here in the UK is that we know where we are moving to next...drum roll please.... Our next duty station will be in the great state of Nebraska. So I guess I will have to become a cornhusker fan, sorry Dad Wilson. This is how it all came about. The military family life consultant and I were talking the other night about family and I mentioned that we really were not that close with Mike's family. The next morning Mike and I were alone in the house, a rare event, and I told him that when we returned to the states that I would like to repair relations with his family. He then said we could do that if we went to Omaha. I thought for a second and replied why not. It would be for 19 months or longer if he is promoted and I have never lived in the Mid west. So long story short, he called the detailer (the guy that tells you were your next duty station will be) and he has a billet that he had to fill with a Joint Speciality Officer (probably not the right term), so we now have verbal orders to Omaha, Nebraska. We will leave England in October 08 and are supposed to report in November 08. I am playing around with the idea of leaving in the summer, so that Katie can start school at the beginning of the year. That about does it for me.
